You play Alric. His father went down into the ruins under the city years ago looking for the truth and never came back up, so Alric goes after him. What follows is an action RPG dungeon crawl with roguelite structure, where you descend, fight, gather and come back to camp between runs.

The layout trick is one worth flagging, because it sits between the two things people usually argue about. The rooms are hand-built rather than generated, but the game shuffles the order every time you go in, so you never walk the same dungeon twice and you never walk through a room nobody designed. Combat runs across melee, ranged weapons and spells you learn along the way.

Back at camp you craft weapons, cook food, brew potions, trade and upgrade the character. The story is told there too, in conversations between two friends around a campfire between runs, which is a sensible place to put a narrative in a game built on repeat attempts.

Magic Puncher Games is developing and publishing. The developer says the game has been six years in the making and describes it as a deliberately focused project with no open world and no battle pass, just the dungeon and the reason for going down there.

One thing worth knowing before you buy, and credit to the developer for putting it on the storefront rather than burying it: the Steam page carries an AI disclosure saying some of the item icons at launch are AI generated placeholders, and that he intends to replace them. That is his own wording and it is the sort of thing you would rather read on the store page than find out afterwards.

It releases on Steam on 18 September 2026 at US$16.99, £13.99 and €16.99, with 10 per cent off for the first two weeks. Australian pricing has not been listed yet. The demo is up now and the developer has said it comes down on 21 September, so if you want to try before the discount runs out, that window is short.
