RuneScape: Dragonwilds launched in full on Tuesday 15 September 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Jagex says it is the first RuneScape game to reach a console in the series' 25 years. The game sold more than 1.5 million copies on Steam during its 18 months in Early Access.

It is a survival crafting game set on Ashenfall, a continent in the RuneScape world that the main game has never visited. You chop wood, mine ore, build a base and fight dragons, with magic taking a lot of the grind out of the gathering. It can be played solo or with up to three friends, and cross-play works across every platform, so someone on PS5 can join a mate on Switch 2.

Subscribers get it without paying extra. It is on Xbox Game Pass from day one on the Premium, Ultimate and PC Game Pass tiers, and on PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium for PS5. There is no equivalent deal on Switch 2 or Steam.

For everyone else, the standard edition is A$43.95 on Steam and the Australian Xbox Store, and A$43.96 on the Australian PlayStation Store. The Deluxe Edition is A$57.90 on PlayStation, or a A$13.96 upgrade for people who already own the standard version. The Deluxe extras are cosmetic: gilded armour, Old School style helmets and decorations for the base. The PlayStation Store lists the game as rated M for violence, with in-game purchases and online play.

The launch build includes Scorned Wilderness, the game's fourth major update. It adds the final region, a raid against the dragon queen Kuldra, and Rune and Dragon tier gear. Console copies also include everything from the earlier Fellhollow, Dowdun Reach and Umbral Sands updates. The next major update, Luminance, is due in December, and Jagex plans to show its 2027 roadmap at RuneFest in October.

Physical editions for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are due on 5 November 2026. The physical Deluxe Edition comes in a collector's box with a SteelBook, a cloth map of Ashenfall, three embroidered skill patches and five holographic character cards. A physical Switch 2 version is listed as to be confirmed for 2027.

For an Australian household with Game Pass or PS Plus Extra, this is a four player co-op survival game that costs nothing extra this week. For everyone else it is about A$44 on any platform. The M rating puts it in teens and up territory rather than something for younger kids.
