Square Enix is remaking Romancing SaGa 3 properly, not re-releasing it. It lands on 16 February 2027 and it is going on nearly everything.
Square Enix announced Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United during a Nintendo Direct, and its Australian release confirms the date as 16 February 2027 across Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and Xbox on PC.
The original landed on the Super Famicom in 1995 and only got a proper English release in 2019, so a lot of people here have never played it. The draw of the SaGa games has always been that they do not hold your hand. You pick one of eight main characters and the story rearranges itself around who you chose, which is a structure most RPGs still do not attempt.
This is the same setup that worked for Square Enix twice already. The team behind it also handled the Trials of Mana remake and Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven, both of which took an old sprite based game and rebuilt it in 3D rather than filtering it. Kenji Ito is back on the music, with new arrangements done under his supervision.
No price has been announced.
