Monster Hunter Wilds is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on Friday 4 December. Capcom put the date on screen during the Direct and has a proper page up for it, so this one's confirmed.
What you get: the full game as it stands now, with every title update so far included from day one, so the Grand Hub, Mizutsune, Lagiacrus and the Final Fantasy XIV crossover are all in the box. The Switch 2 version supports cross-play, so you can hunt online with mates on PS5, Xbox and PC. The extra it has over the others is local wireless co-op between Switch 2 consoles, which Capcom says is unique to this version. That's system-to-system, not split-screen on one telly.
The Ascendance expansion, which Capcom has been trailering for the other platforms, is coming to Switch 2 as well in 2027. Capcom's wording is that it arrives at launch, meaning Switch 2 players get it alongside everyone else rather than waiting.
Editions: a digital Standard, a digital Gold that bundles the 126-item Cosmetic DLC Collection, and a physical Deluxe. The physical one is a game-key card, so the box carries a download code rather than the game itself. Pre-orders open 20 October per Capcom's page (some outlets say the 19th, which is probably the US date), and pre-ordering gets you the Guild Knight layered armour and a Hope Charm talisman. Capcom hasn't published prices for Australia yet, and we'll leave the US figures floating around until they're on an official page.
One thing Capcom hasn't shown yet is how it runs. Wilds pushed PS5 and PC hard at launch, so the frame rate and resolution on Switch 2, especially handheld, is the question everyone will want answered before December.
