Mayday: The Survival Island launches on Steam on 2 November 2026. The date was announced at PAX West in Seattle over the weekend, where it's been playable on the indie.io stand. For us the Steam unlock works out to around 3am AEST on Tuesday 3 November, so it's a Tuesday morning download rather than a Monday one.

It's made by Pequi Studios, a three-person team from Goiânia in Brazil, and published by indie.io, the label that used to trade as Freedom Games. The two have been working together since the middle of 2025. The game is a top-down pixel-art survival and crafting game, and the whole pitch is the world: 24 islands, every one of them hand-drawn rather than procedurally generated, though where the resources sit is randomised each run so it's the layout you learn, never the loot.

A free demo is on Steam now, and the store page lists English and Brazilian Portuguese as the only languages. It's Windows only. No price has been set in any currency yet, so there's no AUD figure to give you. One thing to keep an eye on: the announcement only talks about it as a single-player game, but the Steam listing also has online co-op in its feature list. I'd wait to see which of those is true at launch before planning to play it with someone.
