Xbox has confirmed Halo: Campaign Evolved lands on 28 July 2026. It is a full ground-up remake of the campaign from the very first Halo, Combat Evolved, rebuilt with HD visuals, reworked mechanics and three brand new missions on top of the original story. The part that has a lot of people talking: it is coming to PlayStation 5 as well as Xbox Series X|S and PC. That is the first time a mainline Halo campaign has ever landed on a PlayStation console.

Co-op is in, both online and on the couch. There is early access too, from 23 July, five days ahead of launch, for anyone who grabs the Premium or Collector's editions. Standard sits at US$49.99, with the Premium and a big Collector's Edition above it, and Australian pricing still to confirm. It is also on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass from day one.

Here is the bit I like. Couch co-op is getting rare, and the first Halo was built for exactly that, two people, one screen, working through the campaign together. My eldest is at the age where that lands, and Combat Evolved is a manageable length rather than a hundred-hour commitment. You can knock over a mission in a sitting and pick it up again another night.

For me the PlayStation move is the real story. Halo has been the Xbox flag for 25 years, so seeing Master Chief turn up on a PS5 is a proper shift. I have not gone hands on, so this is a heads up rather than a review, but this one is firmly on the list.
