Rockstar has announced Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, and the way it's being released is a first. It premieres on Netflix on Thursday 27 August at 3pm US Eastern time, which for us is 5am AEST on Friday 28 August. Six hours after that it goes up on the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the GTA VI site, which is 11am AEST on the Friday. So Netflix subscribers see it over breakfast, and everyone else gets it before lunch the same day.

Rockstar hasn't said exactly how long the Extended Look runs or what it covers, but the name says plenty. This is the deeper showing fans have been asking for since Trailer 2 dropped back in May 2025, and it's the first substantial new footage since the game slipped to its current date.

That date is 19 November 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. With the game less than three months out, this is the window where Rockstar usually starts opening up, so expect the marketing taps to keep flowing from here.

The Netflix partnership is the talking point. Rockstar putting its biggest reveal in years behind a streaming service, even for six hours, has plenty of people scratching their heads. Netflix has been pushing harder into games for a while, and landing the most anticipated game on the planet, even briefly, is a serious win for them.
