The line sits at the very end of Playground's 7 September blog post for the game's British Automotive series update. It tells PS5 players to stay tuned, says Forza Horizon 6 will be releasing on PS5 later this year, and points them to the PlayStation Store wishlist page. That's the entire statement. No date, no window narrower than the rest of 2026.

Context matters here. In August, The Verge's Tom Warren said he didn't expect the PS5 version in 2026, and IGN reported similar. With GTA 6 arriving on 19 November and Playground yet to say anything, the delay story had started to feel settled. This blog line is Playground's first direct answer to it, and the wording is careful: still 2026, but the timing is left wide open.

The update itself is out now on Xbox Series X|S, the Xbox app on PC and Steam. It adds Drift Attack as a permanent mode at the Shimanoyama Circuit, a British Automotive takeover of the aftermarket dealer near the Horizon Stadium, and three new-to-Horizon cars through the Festival Playlist (a 2025 Bentley Continental GT Speed, a 2019 Ginetta G40 Junior and a 2006 Vauxhall Astra VXR). The playlist runs from 12:30am AEST on 11 September through to 8 October. Playground also teased October's Horizon Meets update with a 7-Eleven convenience store event.

Tokyo Game Show runs 17 to 21 September, and given Forza Horizon 6 is set in Japan, that's the obvious place for a PS5 date if one is coming soon. Nothing has been announced for it, so treat that as a possibility rather than a plan.
