Fortune's Weave is set in Dagsion, the capital of the Dagdan Empire, where fighters from across the land have gathered for the Heroic Games and the single wish that comes with winning. Four heroes are tied to the outcome, and as Nintendo's August Direct laid out, all four stories play through in a single save rather than as separate campaigns. There is a hidden fifth hero as well, which Nintendo revealed itself during that Direct.

The day one update takes the game to version 1.0.1. Nintendo's notes say it gives away special weapons from earlier Fire Emblem games, picked up in Dagsion and elsewhere as the story moves along, and fixes several issues. The patch is about 300MB on top of the base game.

On price, Nintendo's Australian store has the boxed game at $119.95 and the eShop version at $104.95. Most of the big retailers had the boxed copy below RRP for launch week. A Dagdan Collection edition was listed at $184.95 and was no longer available at Nintendo's own store by launch day.

Reviews went live on 16 September and were broadly strong, with most outlets singling out the scale of the roster and the battles. Nintendo has confirmed the game uses a single save file, which it explained in a developer interview this week as a deliberate choice tied to how the four stories interlock.

There is no Switch 1 version and no sign of one coming. Nintendo's next big first party release on Switch 2 after this is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on 5 November.
