Blizzard confirmed it on its own newsroom on 12 September, off the back of the BlizzCon 2026 opening ceremony. Diablo V is in development for Spring 2029. The line Blizzard keeps repeating is the pitch: Sanctuary has fallen, Diablo won. You are dropping into a world where the heroes already lost and the question is what you become afterwards.

That is a genuinely different starting point for this series, which has spent thirty years putting you in a world that is about to go wrong rather than one that already has. Blizzard has not announced platforms, price or pre-orders, and there is no gameplay, just a short teaser.

The other Diablo news is closer to now. Blizzard and Netflix are developing an animated series set in the world of Diablo, with nothing more said about when. The Amazon arrives as the next Diablo IV class in the first half of 2027, hailing from the island of Skovos, with the bow returning and the javelin coming in as a new weapon type. And Season of Hell's Legacy, the 30th anniversary season, starts rolling out on 15 September, bringing back Deckard Cain and the Prime Evils.

The one most people can act on this week: the Diablo IV: Age of Hatred Collection lands on Nintendo Switch 2 on 15 September. That bundles the base game plus both the Vessel of Hatred and Lord of Hatred expansions.

Blizzard also said more than 130 million players have been through Sanctuary across the franchise.
