A two-person German studio's tower-building strategy game has landed on Steam with a launch discount, and the free demo is still up.
Cloudscrapers, a minimalist tower-building strategy game from two-person studio Nementic Games, is out now on Steam. It launched on 14 September 2026, published by Curve Games, and it is PC only. The Australian price is A$11.99, with a 25 per cent launch discount bringing it down to A$8.99 until 28 September.
The idea is simple. You start with a few tools and build a tower as high as you can, managing resources while the weather tries to knock it down. When a run ends, you keep permanent upgrades and new tools for the next attempt, so each tower has a chance to go higher than the last. A light fantasy story about why you are building at all unfolds as you climb, across a set of hand-painted biomes.
Nementic and Curve both pitch it as a short-session game, something for half an hour after work. It ships with full controller support and is Steam Deck Verified. The minimum spec is modest too: Windows 10, 4 GB of RAM, a GeForce GTX 560 class graphics card and 3 GB of storage.
Nementic Games is Julian Ludwig and Sebastian Jantschke, based in Bavaria, Germany. Cloudscrapers is their first release since the studio slimmed down to a duo, and Jantschke says it has been close to two years in the making. The soundtrack features vocals from Mariya Anastasova, who sang Down by the River in Baldur's Gate 3.
The free demo that went up in July is still on the Steam page if you want to try a few runs before paying. Steam also lists seven bundles that pair Cloudscrapers with other small builders such as Drop Duchy, Summerhouse and Pile Up!, each with an extra 10 per cent off the combined price.
For under nine dollars, this is a low-risk pick for anyone who wants a strategy game that fits into a short sitting on the couch or a Steam Deck. No console version has been announced.
