Barbarian Saga: The Beastmaster launched on 9 September across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch and Steam, and Selecta Play has put out a boxed edition for PS5 and Switch with a reversible cover.
It's a 2D Metroidvania, hand-drawn, and Dormidin Studio is open about where it comes from: the fantasy films of the 80s and 90s, Castlevania and Golden Axe. You play the Beastmaster, who can take on beast forms mid-fight, and there's a loadout system built on ritual beads that changes how you play. Arcade-style arena duels break up the exploring. The Steam page carries a mature content note for some nudity, so it's one for the grown-ups rather than the kids.
Digital on Steam, PlayStation Store, Xbox Store and the Switch eShop. Steam has it at $21.95 in Australia with 10% off until 24 September, which lands it at $19.75. Console store prices weren't listed when we checked. The physical edition covers PS5 and Switch and comes with a reversible cover; Selecta Play is a Spanish publisher, so Australian retail stock is the thing to check before you count on a boxed copy here. There's a free demo on Steam if you want to try before you buy.
